Now the soil temperature has warmed up, the grass will start to shift into action. So its time to get yourself prepared. Good grass only comes from good basic spring cleaning, literally… You need to get the chain harrows out and pull all of the dead rubbish out of the sward. Then follow this with a little urea/nitrogen to get the grass moving. Follow this with a flat roll, rolling will encourage the plants to produce new shoots. This is what we referr to as tillering. This process will thicken up the grass sward, resulting in higher output of grass growth.
To have healthy livestock or good crops of hay, you really need to get started now. It is well worth it!!! If you get your pasture right, all will click into place!
