Well, its that time of year. There is a hint of spring in the air, I use Chives as my little beromiter. They are looking very sharp and healthy at the moment. I use it as a gentle reminder to sort out my planting program… If you haven’t done so, now is the time to choose your crops and varieties, oh and don’t forget to order your onion and potato sets. They usually disappear from the shelves over night!
I have been keeping an eye on what is available this year, I cant help but be impressed by Thompson & Morgan. They have come up with two very interesting ranges of seed. URBAN collection, what I would call the petite range, ideal if you are struggling for space. Great for troughs, pots and mini veg beds, very neat. The second, HERITAGE range. This I really do applaud, almost lost classic varieties pre 1950’s that were pushed out by the EU!. Now that regulations (I wont bore you with) have been relaxed, T & M have jumped at the opportunity to bring these steely varieties back!!! Think of these as you would rare breed sheep. Give them a helping hand and stick them in the ground with muster. I have added a link where you can request a catalogue.
